The scientific name of Rock python is Python molurus. It exists in only few geographical locations namely Nepal’s Terai Region, India and Malaysian peninsula. This reptile is found in tropical jungles and rainforests.
The Rock Python falls under the carnivore category. It preys primarily upon small mammals, deer & antelopes, birds & other reptiles. Pythons kill their prey by squeezing until it can no longer breathe. Like all snakes, they swallow the prey whole, head first. The python’s top and bottom jaws are attached to each other with stretchy ligaments, which let the snake swallow animals wider that itself. It has a incubation period 60 – 90 days and can survive for 22 years.
